About Carmen Cabana
Carmen Cabana is a cinematographer from Colombia and based in Los Angeles, CA.
Carmen has been blessed to have worked in productions like the Netflix Hit series Narcos Season 2 (10 episodes), Award winning Detroit drama Destined starring Cory Hardrict; Vietnam War Ride The Thunder and acclaimed Letters to Elena which had extended Theatrical releases.
Carmen was a participant of the Sundance Director's Lab Program in 2008 under the mentorship of industry professionals such Robert Redford, Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC (Close Encounters of The Third Kind), Robert Elswitt, ASC (There Will Be Blood), Caleb Deschanel, ASC (The Passion of The Christ), Steven Poster, ASC (The Box), among others. Over the years she has been mentored by The talented Gabriel Beristain, ASC
Her passion for visuals, storytelling and the possibility of a constantly changing job experience attracted her to filmmaking.
In 2005 she moved to Los Angeles to study at The Art Institute of Los Angeles. After graduating with honors Carmen began her career in shooting documentaries, shorts, spots for Sony Latin and was hired to light Press Junkets for artists like Lenny Kravitz, Mana, Ricky Martin, among others.
After her work reached several festivals, Carmen began shooting feature films. She has shot over 20 films as sole cinematographer in the last 5 years and also 4 films as Additional Cinematographer for films like Yellow directed by Nick Cassavetes which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festivals.
Carmen is a Film Independent: Project Involve Fellow and a member of the Friends of the ASC educational program.
Her unique vision and effective way of working have built her a name among other filmmakers.
